One of the many projects that keeps us busy is gutting and re-doing houses. We recently took on a pretty big house project, and thought it would be fun to share the process with all of you.
This is day one of demo on the 3 bedroom 1 and 1/2 bath historic shirtwaist in Hyde Park. As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done, as this house is in pretty bad shape.
Though we would love to keep as many of the historic elements in tact, like trim and hardwoods, we are also opening the floor plan, adding an additional bedroom and half bath to make more sense of this space for the modern family.
The Kitchen is moving forward in the floor plan, will be centrally located in the house and open to the Living Room. In addition to a new kitchen, we will also be doing all new drywall, paint (inside and out) 3 new bathrooms and a new roof.
This is the 3rd floor of the house, and will be the Master Suite. We love the big windows on both sides of the room!
Its safe to say, there isn't really a salvageable room in the house. But trust us when we say, this thing is going to be beautiful when its done! The entire process will take up to 12 weeks, but as we finish projects, we will share the progress.
If your looking at buying at home, and aren't finding what you want completely finished, buying a house like this and creating your dream house is sometimes a more cost effective option. Our team can help you create vision for even the most unattractive spaces, give you 3D renderings of what your new space will look like, and execute the entire process from demo to curating.
